Frequently Asked Questions
We’re pleased to share the exciting news that Thornton Adventure Play and Bowl will be operated by Creating Active Futures in partnership with Wyre Council from 1 April 2026.
Thornton Adventure Play and Bowl will remain open as normal, with its usual opening hours and programme of activities. We are delighted to share that there will be some positive initial changes to improve your customer journey, including an enhanced booking system that will make it even easier to book online.
Below are some frequently asked questions, which we hope will provide all of the information you need in advance of the transfer. However, If your question isn’t answered below, please use the contact us page here and we will respond directly to your enquiry.
What will happen to the Bowling Lanes?
The bowling will continue to run to its existing timetable and sessions. Prices and member discounts will remain the same.
What will happen to the old Skate Park area?
The skate park will be changed to an exciting new multi-level soft play structure suitable for a wide range of ages. The soft play is designed around local landmarks and history, with role play and smaller areas for younger children all the way up to our Tag-X ninja warrior style course for older children with interactive assault course to challenge their friends.
Will the booking of the bowling become easier?
Yes! We’re looking for the long term best way to make this as easy as possible for members and non-members, but in the meantime we are introducing a guest checkout to save the need for having an account to book your bowling. More details will be available soon.
Are the arcade machines remaining?
Yes! Working with the current operator of these we will be continuing to offer the arcade machines.
What’s happening to all of the current employees?
We’re pleased to welcome our new colleagues to become part of the Creating Active Futures team. We’re currently working with them to prepare for their transfer and train them on our new systems and procedures. We’re also preparing to advertise for additional team members to enhance the member experience - check out our jobs page for more information.
Will my club or myself still be able to continue booking the facilities?
Yes! We’re working with the YMCA to make contact with all of the current bookers. Where our plans to utilise more space to enhance our group exercise programme may have any impact on your booking, we will work with you to make this as minimal as possible to allow full sports hall use to continue. We have no plans to change the size or space in the sports hall.
